A bit of a lighter week for Torden athletes, but that just meant the % of wins/podiums/bests went up!
Army InterServices Sprint National Championships - UK
Jappas Du Preez continued his great form from ITU Long Distance Worlds in Spain by taking the Silver medal at the Army Sprint Championships this past week in the UK. Although admittedly a "long course" style athlete, Jappas produced a stellar day of swim/bike/run to run his way towards the front at the end. It could be noted as well, that Jappas was the first finisher who isn't a "pro-level"/full-time athlete! Very well done, Jappas!
Inselberg MTB Marathon - Germany
Maxi Spahn is on a tear and took another win at the Inselberg MTB Marathon this past weekend in Germany. At just 60km, but with 2000+m of elevation gain, it was a perfect course for Maxi to utilize his power/weight ratio and simply ride away from very strong competition over the course of the day! We are big fans of racing more, especially when you feel good and are on form! It clearly makes things more fun and can produce some stellar results!
Ingolstadt Triathlon - Germany
Kathi Ohlmeyer took a great age-group win and 4th overall at the Ingostadt Olympic Distance triathlon this weekend a week after her Challenge Heilbronn half-distance result! On the back of a race best bike-split, Kathi could keep a solid run when it counted. As we move towards Ironman Frankfurt, the form and confidence should be at an all time high right now! Very proud of your work, Kathi!
Fabian Kral took to the start-line of the middle-distance race in Ingolstadt on the weekend. A solid day on the bike and run also allowed us to find some things out about where the fitness is at, but also in terms of bike fit / nutrition so that when Ironman Frankfurt comes around in a few weeks, the changes can be made for the better! Never try anything new for an A-race, so use these other races as dress rehersals!
70.3 St. Poelten - Austria
Claus Crone produced an absolutely stellar day at 70.3 St. Poelten this last weekend. With a 2nd best swim, race best bike, and very 4th best run, Claus came across the line in 2nd place and secured his spot for the 70.3 World Championships in Nice later this Summer! The last couple months have had some decent training, but when you're very busy with work, dealing with sick children on numerous occasions, as well as other life stressors, it was a great wrap-up to the Spring season and prep for this goal. Now we can focus on recovery, and hopefully a bit smoother ride towards Nice in September!
